Vindobona Hash House Harriers - 40th Anniversary Weekend

The Vindobona Hash House Harriers will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary in Mörbisch on the Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland. This celebration will be on the weekend of 17-19 June 2022. This is just over 40 years from our first Hash on 25 April 1982.

Morbisch-am-See is a beautiful town on the famous Lake Neusiedl, and the lake crosses the border from Austria to Hungary. At one time this border was part of the famous Iron Curtain, but you will cross this border many times on the weekend and hardly notice that it is there! We will be staying at the Hotel Drescher in the centre of Mörbisch (see photo on the left).

We have booked enough rooms for all the registered Hashers. Breakfast and dinner will be at the hotel.

For those that like to dress up, the Theme for Saturday night is White as in the White Dove of Peace. Be prepared to be dress in white clothes to make most of the fun. While there is a dreadful war going on in Europe, not far from Austria, we will stay optimistic and hope for a return to peace.

The hotel has an indoor swimming pool and a small sauna.

Travelling to Mörbisch by public transport is not very easy, involving several changes from train to bus, and takes between 90 minutes and 2 hours.. Check the ÖBB (Austrian State Railway) website for the best connections. Driving from Vienna takes about 1 hour.

The 120 takes 1 hour 40 minutes and the 200 takes 2 hours.
Get off at Hauptstraße and it’s a few minutes walk (Walk in the direction the bus was travelling and turn right on Huhnerberg and Hotel Drescher is on Hauerstrasse.

14:00 Onwards check in to Hotel. The Hotel Reception will have a list of Hashers (Real Names), with room allocation, so they will hand out keys any time after 14:00. If you are planning to arrive late get delayed (after 22:00), please let us know and someone will stay up with your key.

16:00 to 17:45 Registration Desk Registration will open again after dinner and continue until everyone has arrived.

20:30 Dinner and drinks until late. This is a buffet style dinner and we will try to keep some food for the latecomers.

10:00 Meet in front of Hotel for a day of running, eating and drinking. There will be a walkers trail and shortcuts for those who wish to minimize the running.

The run will be include several drink stops and a lunch. When we get back to Mörbisch there will be a long circle.

19:00 Dinner. Please be on time, or you may miss out (if you are later, we will assume you have crashed and do not want dinner!)

20:50: Vinothek - At 10 mins to 9 walk to the Vinothek. The Vinothek is 200 meters from the Hotel Drescher and offers samples of local wine from 21:00 until 22:00. There will be a small fee €10 which is not included in the Weekend Fee. For more information on the Vinothek, click here.

11:00 Latest Checkout Time. Please checkout before the Hangover Hash. We will arrange a place where you can store your bags during the Hangover Hash, if you don't have a car.

11:00 Hangover Hash, followed by circle and goodbyes. Lunch is not provided in the run fee, but will be available at a location near the hotel at your own expense. Unfortunately the Hotel Drescher does not provide lunch on Sunday. If you want a shower after the Hash, please use the showers by the sauna.

We will have our normal Hash at 6:30 pm somewhere in Vienna and you are welcome to join us there.

The €250 Hash fee includes all meals over the weekend, except Sunday Lunch, plus all you can drink after the run and during the meals, plus a very nice piece of Haberdashery. It also includes the 2 nights at the Hotel Drescher (in a shared room) and various expenses during the weekend. If you would like a single room, this will cost €60 extra making the weekend fee €310.

Deadline for registration and payment is middle of May 2022, so we can get the order for the Jackets submitted in time. Registration books a place, but will only become confirmed on full payment. After submitting the Registration Form, you will receive a confirmation email (within a day or 2) and information about various options for payment.
