Vindobona Hash House Harriers - 30th Anniversary Weekend

Lake Neusiedl

The Vindobona Hash House Harriers will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary in Mörbisch on the Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland. This celebration will be on the weekend of 27-29 April 2012 which is almost exactly 30 years from our first Hash on 25 April 1982.

Morbisch-am-See is a beautiful town on the famous Lake Neusiedl, and the lake crosses the border from Austria to Hungary. At one time this border was part of the famous Iron Curtain, but you will cross this border many times on the weekend and hardly notice that it is there! We will be staying at the Hotel Drescher in the centre of Mörbisch (see photo on the left).

This hotel can accommodate 80 Hashers in normal bedrooms (twin bed or double beds). Breakfast and dinner will be at the hotel.

For those that like to dress up, there will be a Theme for Saturday night - to be announced later. Be prepared to be dress appropriately to make most of the fun.

The hotel is undergoing renovation during the winter, so we will be one of the first groups to benefit from this work. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool and a small sauna.

Travelling to Mörbisch by public transport is not very easy, involving several changes from train to bus, and takes between 90 minutes and 2 hours.. Check the ÖBB (Austrian State Railway) website for the best connections. Driving from Vienna takes about 1 hour.

We are planning a re-enactment of Hash #1 at the Grüß-di-a-Gottwirt above Sievering (on the Höhenstrasse). More details later.

16:00 to 17:45 Registration Registration will open again after Lord Glo-Balls has finished dinner and continue until midnight.

20:00 Dinner and drinks until late. This is a buffet style dinner and we will try to keep some food for the latecomers.

10:30 Meet in front of Hotel for a day of running, eating and drinking. There will be a walkers trail and shortcuts for those who wish to minimize the running.

The run will be include several drink stops and a lunch. When we get back to Mörbisch there will be a long circle.

20:00 Dinner. Please be on time, or you may miss out (if you are later, we will assume you have crashed and do not want dinner!)

11:00 Hangover Run, followed by circle and goodbyes. Lunch is not provided in the run fee, but is available in the hotel at your own expense. If you want a shower after the Hash, please use the showers by the sauna. On Monday, we will have our normal Hash at 6:30 pm somewhere in Vienna and you are welcome to join us there.

Registration will open at 16:30 and close at 17:45 (on Friday) so we can all enjoy the warm-up Hash. Registration will re-open when Lord Glo-Balls has finished dinner, probably around 21:30 or so and will close around mid-night. Any latecomers can register at breakfast on Saturday morning. You can get the key to your room any time and register later. The Hotel will have a list of rooms and participants, so they can give you the correct key.

The Hash fee includes all meals over the weekend, except Sunday Lunch, plus all you can drink after the run and during the meals, plus Haberdashery and Goody Bag, plus Live Entertainment. It also includes the 2 nights at the Hotel Drescher and various expenses during the weekend.

Payment is due any time before the 15 March 2012. See the Payment Page for full details of how to pay and the various amounts in Euros, US$ and UK£. VH3 participants are encouraged to pay cash during a Hash between now and the middle of March. Reminders will be sent out during February.
