VH3 - V4+1 Information

Third Annual V4 +1 Run - September 1997

Preparations for the V4 + 1 Hash in Vienna are complete. As we understand it the V = Visegrad and relates to a meeting of 3 countries at this town in 1991, which resulted in a declaration of cooperation. The 3 original Visegrad countries became 4 after the split of Czechoslovakia. The V4 are Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary and the '+1' is Austria. Therefore the V4+1 host Hashes are Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest and Vindobona HHH. The first V4+1 Hash was in Bratislava in October 1995, the second was in Budapest in September 1996 and now we have the third in Vienna in September 1997. Who will host the 4th run in 1998?

Here is our latest plan for the 3rd V4+1 :-

Friday 5th September - Hotel Zur Kagranerbrcke - 8 p.m. - Registration

Meet at the Hotel zur Kagranerbrcke, Wagramerstrasse 52, 22nd district of Vienna.

We will have a drink, register, have a drink, meet your hosts, have a drink, eat something, have a drink, etc. You will receive vouchers for two drinks. Any drinks beyond this limit and any food you buy, you will have to pay for.

During registration you will get a goody bag containing the T-Shirt, some other gifts and full directions to all the other events during the weekend.

If any Hash would like to present a sketch or a song, they are welcome to do so. Please let us know when you register, if you have some entertainment for us.

Saturday 6th September - Kahlenberg - 1.30 p.m. - V4+1 Run

The run will start from the large car park at Kahlenberg, on the Hhenstrasse, in the 19th district of Vienna.

Directions Drive up to Grinzing following the signs for the Hhenstrasse. When you reach the Hhenstr. turn right and keep going along this road following the signs for Kahlenberg until you reach the large car park at the top of the hill and stop here. Alternatively you can approach along the Hhenstr. from the other end and just keep going until you reach Kahlenberg. Map reference Blue Book p. 7 F/10. If using public transport, take the 38a from Heiligenstadt.

After the run there will be a few beers to drink, some breads and spreads, and many Down-Downs in the car park.

Saturday 6th September - ÖBB Sportanlage - 7.30 p.m. - Party

Saturday evening will be at the Austrian State Railway Sports Ground (Sportanlage der BB), Arbeiterstrandsbadstrasse 128, in the 22nd district. This is located between the Kagranerbrcke Hotel and the Vienna Internaional Centre and very close to the Alte Dona U-Bahn station on the U1 underground line.

The menu will be either Wienerschnitzel or Putenschnitzel with chips and a sald, followed by plum cake. The cost of the meal and 3 drinks are already included in your registration fee. You will receive tickets for the meal and drinks at the door. If you bring a guest to the meal, this will cost AS 250 extra. When you register, we will ask you if you want the Wiener (pork) or Puten (turkey) Schnitzel.

The theme of the party Saturday night will be Naughty and/or Nice. Please bring an appropriate costume!

Sunday 7th September - Heldenplatz - 11 a.m. Hangover Run

At 11 a.m. there will be a hangover run starting from Heldenplatz, which is right by the Hofburg Palace in central Vienna, followed by some more Down-Downs, lunch and then we all go home.

Map reference Blue Book p. 32 O/11.

You pay for lunch and any drinks consumed at the Restaurant

Costs

Cost will be AS 650. This will include a T-shirt and other presents in a goody bag, beer after the runs, food Saturday night and a limited number of drinks Friday and Saturday night. It will not include accommodation, food on Friday night, Saturday or Sunday lunch time, or any drinks you consume beyond the limit on Friday or Saturday night. We know that this is more expensive than recent events in nearby countries, but unfortunately Vienna is one of the most expensive cities in Europe.
